Quality CBD: Identify the best cannabis products for your needs

Guide to finding high-quality, safe, lab tested CBD topical, tinctures and more

So you’ve been searching for cannabis or CBD products but are reluctant to buy? There are many CBD and cannabis products on the market but many are not high quality. Although these products are not regulated by the FDA there are steps you can take to insure you are receiving the highest quality product available.

So what is CBD? Cannabiol, or CBD is a chemical compound that comes from the cannabis plant. Both THC and CBD are present in most marijuana plants. CBD has the potential to aid in many illnesses from anxiety to more chronic conditions like constant pain and epilepsy.

What's the difference between CBD and THC? Marijuana is a term for the varieties containing THC, the compound that makes you feel high. Although both cannabinoids come from the same plant, the effects of THC differ from CBD, which has a more calming effect.

Which CBD product is right for you?

The first step to finding a product that may work for you is finding out what you are looking for. How do you want to consume it? CBD product are available in various forms, including:

  • Hemp flower or pre-filled joints

  • Oils that you can vape, smoke or consume sublingual (under tongue)

  • Edibles and drinks

  • Topical creams, salves, and lotions

The way you consume CBD has an impact on how these products will be effective and for how long they will last:

  • Smoking or vaping is the fastest delivery: Users can typically feel the effects within a couple minutes after use with the effects peak within the first hour of use. However, effects can last for up to 5 hours after usage, depending on tolerance. Hemp joints and vaporizers may cause you to feel extra relaxed and somewhat high depending on if you have used CBD before.

  • CBD oil is slower to set in but is long lasting: By placing CBD oil under the tongue and waiting 30-seconds before swallowing the effects take slower to set in but last longer than smoking or vaping.

  • Edibles are the slowest onset however, they last the longest: You may start to feel the effects within 45 minutes up to 4 hours after taking, and they may last up to 12 hours. Cannabis derived products taken orally have around 5% absorption rate, you’ll get the best result by taking it with a snack or meal.

  • Topical CBD affects the body differently: Users often use topical CBD to reduce inflammation or pain. When CBD is applied topically it is absorbed only at the area of skin it was applied to.

The CBD product that is ideal for you depends on many factors including your preference and symptoms. By having these in mind you will have an easier time knowing what exact product you’re searching for.
